The Crashdown Cafe is a restaurant in all incarnations of the Roswell series. It is owned by Liz's family, and they live above the restaurant on the second story. It is the location where Liz is shot and Max Evans heals her.

General overview[]

Roswell High books[]

The Crashdown Cafe is owned by Liz Ortecho's father. The first novel opens at the cafe where Liz works with Maria DeLuca. Max Evans and Michael Guerin visit when Liz is shot by a patron, and Max heals Liz in front of Maria despite Michael asking him not to do so. Max asks Liz to cover up the healing, and she does so.

When the door opens, it plays the theme from Close Encounters of the Third Kind.[1][2] The waitstaff uniforms are initially "seventies Star Trek rip-offs,"[3] and they later change to be Men In Black knock-offs. The booths/tables are shaped like flying saucers.[4][5]

Menu items include:

  • Sigourney Weaver, a burger with avocado and sprouts[6]
  • Will Smith, a burger with jalapeño peppers and cheese[6]
  • Mother Ship Burger[7]

Employees:

  • Mr. and Mrs. Ortecho, owners, and Mrs. Ortecho bakes cakes
  • Liz Ortecho, waitress
  • Maria DeLuca, waitress
  • Stan, a cook[7][8]
